Welcome to the New whatsbrewinshow.com

Greetings and welcome to the brand new whatsbrewinshow.com version Dos. The difference here is that I will write a new blog every day, talking about the latest in the sports world, and in pop culture. For those of you who have never heard of What's Brewin in Sports, a little back story if I may.

The What's Brewin in Sports Show began on February 2, 2009 as "The Brew and Bill Show" on Blog Talk Radio. George Brew and Bill Mahony, 2 life long sports fans, had been listening to a show on BTR that focused solely on the New York Yankees and were inspired by listening to say hey we both like sports, we have some connections, let's start doing a 2 hour sports talk radio call in show. The Inaugural Show, went off without a hitch with the boys talking some Yankee baseball as well as Super Bowl XLIII. Two weeks later the connections george had started to pay off. Jack Curry, then New York Times National baseball Beat Writer and John Dellapina, NHL Media Relations Director, made their maiden voyages on the show, to rousing success. Over the course of the next couple of months, Thursday night shows were added, as well as former Sirius Radio Intern of MAXIM Radio's "The Bower Show" Snapper was added to help give the boys a female voice, who was knowledgeable about sports and also had good rapport with the guys. The guests and listeners started to warm up to the show as Duff Goldman from Food Network's "Ace of Cakes", former New York Yankees Scott Brosius and Chad Curtis, USA Softball Pitcher Cat Osterman, and NHL Live and The Michael Kay Show's own Don LaGreca were interviewed an quickly became friends of the show.

In April 2009, "The Brew and Bill Show" became "The Brew Show" as Scott Isaaccson, joined the show to talk some NHL Hockey and become George's main Co-Host as Bill would have to take a lesser role in the show, due to his responsibilities to his studies. On April 9th, the show hosted it's "1st Annual Cancer Awareness Night" which included Paul Stewart, former NHL Referee and Cancer Survivor, New York Yankee OutFielder Nick Swisher, SHADE Foundation of America founder and wife of former MLB Pitcher Curt Schilling, Shonda Schilling, and Lance Armstrong Foundation CEO, Doug Ulman. The evening was presented to help support the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life" that George was participating in May.
As the show approached it's first summer, the unfortunate part of the job happened as Snapper and Bill, relinquished their roles on the show. So would the show crumble and die, or go forth and prosper, well, your reading this website so I guess it's still on right. In August, Brew gained a very powerful ally, in Chris Wassel of "The Program" on Blog Talk Radio and owner of www.thehockeyprogram.net, one of the biggest and most successful independent NHL websites. Chris explained to George, that He wanted to help out and be able to talk about all sports as he shares a common love for sports with George and Scotty. Unfortunately, bad news struck the show as they would have to change the name for the 3rd time. Pending legal action, forced Brew to enlist one of His best friends in the World to help in come up with a new name for the show. Well, a trip on the 4 Train brought him to 161st St. and River Ave. outside of Billy's Sports Bar, to the 'Baron of the Bald" "The Mayor of Section 39 and 203" the official t-shirt supplier and STAR of the 1st season of the YES Network's Ultimate Road Trip ,Bald Vinny Milano. Bald Vinny said to George you have a great last name tie in drinking and sports and name the show "What's Brewin"!

The last episode of "The Brew Show" aired and George's favorite contestant of vh1's "Rock of Love Bus" Beverly Palmer joined the show to give everyone the new name and hang out with George and Chris, for that final show.

So there's the ballad of "What's Brewin in Sports" and we hope you tune in every Monday and Thursday Night at 9 PM eastern on www.blogtalkradio.com/whatsbrewin, join the facebook fan page and feel free to e-mail the show with your show topic ideas and suggestions, or call in at 646-929-2192. Yours in Sports,
George Brew
